Old Fashioned Texas Pit BBQ Burgers

Love a great big juicy delicious home-grilled Texas style burger? This is it!

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Grill Time: 30 minutes

6 (6-ounce) burger patties
1 to 1-1/2 cups Fischer & Wieser Texas Pit BBQ Sauce
freshly cracked black pepper and a dash of ground red pepper, to taste
6 slices asadero cheese
½ cup ¡Oh So Picoso! Chipotle Ketchup
6-12 slices tomatoes
6-12 slices iceberg lettuce leaves
6 good quality burger buns
melted butter

Heat a grill to medium hot. Pour 1 cup of the Fischer & Wieser Texas Pit BBQ Sauce in a baking dish. Place the burger patties in the sauce, turning to coat both sides well. Grill the burgers on the grill to desired degree of doneness, basting them with more Fischer & Wieser Texas Pit BBQ Sauce each time you turn them. About 3-4 minutes before the burgers are done, place a slice of cheese on top of each burger. Open the buns and paint the insides with melted butter. Place buns, buttered sides down, on the grill rack; grill buns just long enough to lightly brown, with edges slightly crisp. Place a burger on each bun and pour some of the ¡Oh So Picoso! Chipotle Ketchup on top. Layer on tomato slices and lettuce leaves. Serves 6.
